In the US, up to 6% of the population under age 60 and up to 20% over age 60 do not reach the recommended intake of vitamin B9 and B12. The body needs B vitamins for various processes, for example for nerve function and cell division. Therefore, deficiency symptoms affect many areas of the body. Our B Vitamins test measures your folate (vitamin b9) and Vitamin B 12 status.
What symptoms can be caused by a B vitamin deficiency?
1. Tiredness, lack of concentration, poor memory
2. Hair loss
3. Degeneration of the optic nerve
4. Disturbance of the optic nerve
5. Depressed mood
6. Muscle weakness
Various factors can increase the risk of B vitamin deficiency:
– Increased need
– Impaired absorption of vitamins in the intestine
– Vegetarianism/veganism
– Taking certain medications
How does the test work?
After ordering, a test kit will be delivered to you. You collect the samples comfortably at home and then send them back to the lab and we will provide you with your Vitamin b9 and b12 levels.
