Lipoic acid, also known as Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA), is one of the most thoroughly researched and highly regarded natural substances that is found in the cell. It is involved in carbohydrate metabolism, in the mitochondria, the powerhouse of the cell, where energy is produced through activation of ATP. Lipoic Acid is both water and fat soluble and can regenerate antioxidants inside of the cell, such as vitamin E, vitamin C, and glutathione, which prevents oxidative damage.
