Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) is a perennial shrub up to 30-40 cm in height from the Thymus genus of the Lamiaceae family. The stem is erect or ascending, lignified in the lower part, strongly branched. Branches are tetrahedral, grayish-pubescent, with shortened lateral shoots. Leaves are small, dark green, opposite, oblong-lanceolate. Flowers are five-membered, small. The calyx is green, the corolla is light purple, rarely white. Blooming period is in June - July.
