- Tribulus terrestris has seen a long history of use both in traditional Chinese practices, and Ayurveda. In traditional Chinese practices, it was mainly used for overall wellness, metabolic function and even eye health. In Ayurveda it was mainly used for vitality, metabolic function, cardiovascular function and even pain management!
- One of the main active compounds in Tribulus terrestris is a steroidal saponin called protodioscin. Many of Tribulus terrestris' benefits can be traced back to this compound. For this reason we standardize our tribulus to 20% protodioscin!
- One of the most fascinating effects is its ability to enhance dihydrotestosterone (DHT) production. DHT is one of the most potent androgens, exhibiting much greater androgenic potential than testosterone. DHT is also generated from testosterone, via the enzyme 5-alpha reductase (5-AR). Tribulus terrestris appears to increase 5-AR activity, which in turn ends up converting more testosterone to DHT. This is likely the reason for confidence boosting effects from Tribulus terrestris.
- Tribulus is great if you need an extra kick to get you motivated for your workouts, or even if you are really dragging in the mornings. If you are able to channel the confidence inducing energy however, it can also be incredibly useful before a presentation or meeting, but beware, the effects can turn on you if you are stressed and will instead turn into a more agitated edgy energy!
